MAIN INFORMATION

The Historic Ladies Rest Room is a historical site in Lewisburg, TN. It is a special structure that is on the National Historic Registry. What is fascinating about this Historic Ladies Rest Room is that it was built and remains one of the few freestanding public rest rooms; most of these ladies rest rooms were in dry good stores, county seats, or some other public area.

These lounges was an area that a rural woman could go to freshen up, eat, relax, after a long day of shopping or running errands or wait while her husband was out and about town. She could even bring her children here if needed. It is assumed that without these kind of facilities, women would not have left their homesteads which would have affected the economy due to the female's buying power.
