Macon

Macon County is traditionally a rural and agricultural area, but with the construction of new highways, they are becoming more industrial. There is still plenty of open space, and many people are choosing to bring their families into Macon County to live and work. They have excellent schools, affordable housing, a low crime rate, excellent utilities, and very nice people. Macon County and surrounding areas have a number of attractions that are sure to please residents and visitors alike. Lafayette is the county seat and is located in the western part of the county on Hwy 52. Red Boiling Springs is a city of just over 1,000 people nestled in a beautiful valley. Here visitors have a chance to relax in one of three beautiful hotels, escaping back to a previous era in time. Rock on the front porch of an historic hotel, stroll along the creek, enjoy the beautiful trees and landscaping, read a book, have a mineral bath and therapeutic massage, play a little golf, and enjoy delicious meals.
