Fun Early October Events Along the Appalachian Quilt Trail
Take the Scenic Route! The Quilt Trail May Be Close to Home but it’s Miles from Ordinary.
SNEEDVILLE, TN — 32nd Annual Hancock County Fall Festival (October 04, 2008) The 2008 festival features gasohol and demonstrations of traditional Appalachian skills and crafts such as blacksmithing, spinning, woodcarving, basketmaking, caning chairs, apple butter and molasses making, and quilts. Performances by local bluegrass, country, and gospel musicians. Comedy relief by Barney Fife impersonator, Sammy Sawyers. Bill Landry of the Heartland Series will be the Grand Marshall of Hancock County’s first Tractor Parade featuring local farmers and antique tractors at 11am on Saturday. Vardy Historical Society and Vardy Museum will be open during festival. Scott Collins will talk about Melungeon Heritage & History. Come explore the scenic Melungeon Star Trail along the Appalachian Quilt Trail.
