AQS Knoxville Expo

Thousands of quilters from far and wide converged on Knoxville, TN for the first ever Expo in the city July 22 - 25, 2009.

Congratulations to Linda French of Centerville, Ohio, for her best-of-show win at the AQS Knoxville Quilt Expo. Circles of Life took Linda over three years to make. It is a beautiful work of art!

American Quilter's Society Expo in Knoxville a Success!

Thousands of quilters and quilt enthusiasts converged on Knoxville, TN from July 22 - 25, 2009 for the AQS Expo. The Expo was the perfect venue for handing out our new visitor's guide to anxious trail followers, as well as informing people about the AQT who had never heard of it before they stopped by our booth. We also had the chance to sell some hand made and home grown Appalachian crafts so people could take home a little piece of the region when they left the show. Also, our demonstrators drew in the crowd with their diverse talents like making temari ornaments, crafting trivets out of recycled counter top material, and making recycled wire jewelry. We enjoyed meeting enthusiasts and chatting about the wonderful experiences people had along the trail, the tradition and heritage of quilting, and new ways to help the quilt trail grow and expand throughout Appalachia and Tennessee. Thanks to all who stopped by to learn a little more or simply share your stories of the AQT.

Unfortunately, as many of you know, we were unable to sell enough plates to get production underway and make them available at your DMV. While we may pursue this again in the future, we are now selling novelty plates that can be placed on the front bumper of your car in support of the trail.
